Ronnie's latest "obsession" is flying! Not the big planes (yet), but model airplanes. He found a steal at a consignment shop and got this beauty for $25! He's invested a lot of time into his new hobby and it finally paid off last Friday when he flew and landed it beautifully! I was so proud of him, especially because he crashed it a week before and incredibly, rebuilt it. The first picture is of Ronnie with the rebuilt plane, the second is of him and Chloe flying the simulator with one of his flying buddies, Chris. The last picture is of the wreckage after the first flight. It was pretty horrible-he almost threw it away! The video is of the actual crash. It crashed because it was connected wrong on the controller (it's a little more complicated than that...). I would post the successful flight, but it's REALLY long! Maybe next time :)

Dear Sam,
As the wife of a "pilot" and can offer some advice:
1)savor his childlike excitement at each newly acquired plane
2)expect not to see him or the top of your dining table for days after a new plane comes into the home. He will be fully absorbed into putting it together.
3)go watch him fly once in a while...but DON'T try to talk to him while he's flying. Pilots are cranky about that.
4)Don't ask "what happened" when it crashes.
5) Get used to that little whir-buzzing-beeping sound of the radio and servos as he checks and rechecks all parts (see #2)
6) Don't ask him how much they cost. Just know if the wing span is bigger then your arm span, his obsession has settled into irreversible...and that he needs lots of iron because he woulda had to sell lotsa plasma for it.
7) Be OH SO grateful that he has a hobby that gets him outside and off the sofa. Never mind that he still has SOME sort of remote in his hands. At least he's standing.
8) let him make friends with other "pilots" who will not help but adore him and give him free planes when they get new ones.
P.S. Ronnie...if you are reading this, please come clean out all the airplanes from our "garage". When I say our "garage" I really mean our airplane hanger.
